The “abortion” case is by far the most controversial of cases in all the 20 seasons of the longest running crime series “Law & Order”. As sensitive as the issue is, only twice it has been addressed in the previous seasons with not much of social emphasis. The much talked about episode shows the murder of a doctor in a church who performs long term operations. Although the incidences and events highlighted in the show are termed fictional through disclaimers, it shares a close resemblance to the case of Dr. George R. Tiller, a prominent provider of late-term abortions who was shot and killed in a church in Wichita, Kan., on May 31.
